The Upper South Platte Partnership (USPP) is a boots-on-the-ground alliance of scientists, land managers, government agencies, fire protection districts, academic institutions, water utility providers, and conservationists dedicated to protecting one of Colorado’s most iconic watersheds. From the “Gold Medal” waters of the Dream Stream, 11 Mile Canyon, Cheesman Canyon and Deckers, down through the urban carp fishery of the Denver South Platte, this river is the heartbeat of the Front Range fly fishing community. Beyond being a world-class fishery, the South Platte also provides 80% of the drinking water for the Denver metro area.
The USPP’s mission to reduce wildfire risk and protect these vital aquatic habitats is essential to the survival of the river itself.
This project brings together the deep-rooted heritage of R.L. Winston Fly Rods and the mission-driven creative lens of Isoterics to tell that story through a unique headwear collection. We’ve designed these hats to be more than just gear. They are a tribute to the beauty, balance and complexity of the Upper South Platte. By highlighting the importance of this watershed, this collaboration directly supports the USPP’s work to ensure these waters remain a vibrant, fishable legacy for everyone- who calls the Front Range home.
The Topo Trout Patch Hat was designed to tell the story of the Upper South Platte through the landscape itself. A trout silhouette becomes the canvas for topographic lines pulled from the Upper South Platte drainage, and the river is woven throughout.
The Blue Winged Olive Patch Hat was inspired by one of the South Platte’s staple hatches and brings together the Upper South Platte Partnership, R.L. Winston Fly Rods, and Isoterics in a clean, timeless design.
