Chipping In: A Community Approach to Fire Mitigation

By July 30, 2025No Comments

At Isoterics, we believe that sustainability and community resilience go hand-in-hand. That’s why we’re proud to sponsor Community Chipping Days—a collaborative wildfire mitigation effort in partnership with Elk Creek Fire, Conifer Fire, and the Conifer Wildland Division (CWD).

Why It Matters

Living in the wildland-urban interface means wildfire risk is part of daily life. Creating defensible space around homes is one of the most impactful actions residents can take to protect themselves and their neighbors.

But the work is tough—hauling slash, renting equipment, and paying dumping fees can make it feel unmanageable. That’s where Community Chipping Days come in.

By supporting local ambassadors, we’re helping reduce barriers for homeowners. These community leaders organize volunteers, coordinate logistics, and rally their neighborhoods—all with the support of trained fire personnel and essential equipment.

How It Works

  • Community Ambassadors Lead the Way: Each neighborhood cluster—called a planning unit—has a dedicated ambassador who organizes volunteers and outreach.
  • Strategic Planning: Planning units were selected based on their proximity to larger, landscape-scale fire mitigation projects to maximize impact.
  • CWD Provides the Tools: The Conifer Wildland Division brings in the chippers, ensures site safety, handles slash disposal, and keeps operations running smoothly.
  • Isoterics Provides the Support: We’re proud to back these efforts because fire mitigation isn’t just about individual safety—it’s about community strength. Fire districts can’t do it alone, and neither can homeowners. But together, we can make a real difference.

Mark Your Calendar – Chipping Days

The first event on July 19 was a huge success—thanks to all the incredible volunteers who showed up and got the work done!

Upcoming Chipping Days:

  • August 23
  • September 20
  • October 18 (Spring Creek focus)

Where We’re Working

Targeted planning units include:

  • Spring Creek
  • Eagle Cliff
  • Murphy Gulch
  • Double Header

Each location has been selected for its strategic importance to broader wildfire mitigation goals in the area.

Building a Fire-Adapted Community

This isn’t just a cleanup—it’s a movement. When neighbors come together to clear, chip, and prepare, we take collective steps toward long-term wildfire resilience.

That’s the kind of grassroots action Isoterics is proud to support: grounded in community, powered by purpose, and committed to the future.

Stay tuned for more ways to participate, volunteer, or support your neighbors during upcoming Chipping Days.

We’re proud to chip in. Are you?
